Fine Black and White Markings

The black and white markings are easy to read when the ruler is placed on both dark and light fabrics.

Follow the numbers in the white circles when cutting whole inches and the numbers in the black circles when cutting half inch increments.

Use the ¼” dashed line along two sides of the ruler to trim seam allowances.

Centering Lines

Our square and rectangle rulers have white horizontal and vertical lines that cross to designate the center of each ruler. Use these markings to square up and trim an appliquéd or embroidered block. Or, center and fussy cut a design or stripe for a sashing or border.

Non-Slip Embedded Grip

Creative Grids® unique grip is why these rulers are the best on the market. It’s the secret to cutting fabric with ease and accuracy. The grip slides easily over the fabric while positioning the ruler but stays in place as soon as pressure is applied.

The squares and rectangles feature ¼” grip on two adjoining sides and ½” grip on the opposite two sides to differentiate the Turn-a-Round feature.

1" Grid Markings

The squares and rectangles feature 1” black grid lines both horizontally and vertically.

Place the ruler vertically to cut strips. When using the rectangles, sub-cut the strips by turning the ruler horizontally to take advantage of the full length of the ruler.

Turn-A-Round Features

The Turn-a-Round Feature is shown on all squares and rectangle rulers.

Use the markings in the white dots (and ¼” grip) to cut whole inches and fractional increments. Turn the ruler around to use the markings in the black dots (and ½” grip). By using the half-inch black circle markings, you have effectively added the seam allowance to your pieces that finish to whole inch sizes.

30°, 45°, 60° Angles

Many of the rulers include markings for the most popular angles - 30°, 45° and 60°.

The 45° angles on the rectangle rulers cross on the ¼” line. Use these markings to trim ¼” away from the points of flying geese units or blocks set on point. Or, use these angles to mark cross-hatching or cut mitered corners. Use the 45° angle that begins at each corner to square up half-square triangles.
